Conducting Investigations
An investigation entails a wide array of specialties, including gathering information from the review of records and documents, an analysis of background reports on subjects and witnesses, which include, but are not limited to; social media searches and FOI information gathering, collection of physical evidence of persons and locations of incidents, obtaining eye witness accounts from all possible witnesses, and collection and review of video and digital media.
In-person interviews are conducted using techniques gained from years of training, which have also resulted in the development of an instinct that guides the investigator through the interview. In person interviews are also conducted in order to establish a one on one relationship with the interviewee. Only seasoned investigators with an investigator’s curiosity and instinct, gathered from training and experience, know which questions to ask pending on the information both verbally provided as well as provided through observation and analysis of micro expressions and nuances. All of this information is then collated to make sure it all comes together to paint a picture – this evidence is what is needed to ensure a real conclusion can be reached.
